Pekingese Eye Problems
Ok let’s see….Sonic my oldest male Peke has a benign cyst that began growing about 2 years ago on his right bottom eye lid. It looks like a big black pimple. I take him to the Vet every 8 months or so whenever it gets bigger and the Vet Pops it to drain it. It doesn’t hurt Sonic at all and he is happy when it’s over with! 
If it comes back again I am considering surgery to remove it. I don’t know if I want him to have to go through all the b.s. for something that only bothers him barely once a year and once it is popped takes another 8 months to come back. We’ll see.
I had my youngest Peke Myguy hurt his eye. Really red one day I took him right to the vet because once something happens to a Peke’s eye it is scary. Their eyes bulge out enough as it is. Anyways, Myguy received a cleaning of the eye and some antibiotic and was fine within a few weeks.
Out of all the Pekes I own this would be the only 2 problems ever incurred with the dogs eyes. People say this and that about their eyes…yes they bulge out but rarely run into any problems. I DO however, recommend you keep your Pekes away from Cats. They like to swat and it would be horrible to have a cat scratch their eyes.
